CLOSED!

  18. Upcoming Film Scores hat wieder einige Nachrichten über neue Projekte veröffentlicht: Jan A.P. Kaczmarek: Academy Award-winning composer Jan A.P. Kaczmarkek, who won the Oscar for his Finding Neverland score, has written and recorded the music for Swedish director Lasse Hallström's new film, Hachiko: A Dog's Story. The film, which stars Richard Gere and Joan Allen, is a heartwarming drama about a college professor's bond with an abandoned dog. Grand Army Entertainment produces, release date to be announced. This is Hallström's first film with music by Kaczmarek, his previous composers include Rachel Portman, Christopher Young, Alexandre Desplat and Carter Burwell. Kaczmarek recorded the score with the Polish Radio Orchestra featuring pianist Leszek Mozdzer and cellist Marek Szpakiewicz. Kaczmarek also recently scored the British tv production Pinocchio, starring Bob Hoskins as Geppetto. Theodore Shapiro: Theodore Shapiro is doing the music for comedy veteran Harold Ramis' adventure The Year One, where Jack Black and Michael Cera plays two hunters who embark on an "epic journey through the ancient world." Produced by Judd Apatow (Knocked Up, The 40 Year Old Virgin) for release on June 19 next year, the film is Shapiro's first collaboration with Ramis, who has directed such comedy classics as Groundhog Day and Analyze This. Shapiro's other upcoming film scores include I Love You, Man and Jennifer's Body. Among his recent credits are Marley & Me and Tropic Thunder. Christopher Young: Christopher Young has been hired to score his fifth feature film for director Jon Amiel: Creation, next year's Charles Darwin biopic starring Paul Bettany as the famous naturalist. Based on Randal Keynes's biography, the story evolves around the conflict between Darwin and his deeply religious wife (Jennifer Connelly), whose faith contradicts his work. The film is actually British, produced by RPC, and is currently shooting in England. As previously reported, Christopher Young is also doing the music for Drag Me to Hell and When in Rome. His latest collaboration with Jon Amiel was the 2003 sci-fi romp The Core. Brian Eno: Paramount Pictures has confirmed to Upcoming Film Scores that the music for Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson's new film, The Lovely Bones, is by Brian Eno. The ambient music icon gets an "Original Music by" credit in the film, according to Paramount, who are distributing the film in the US next year. 60-year old Eno (who started out as a keyboardist in Roxy Music, worked with artists such as David Bowie and John Cale, and produced albums by U2 and Coldplay) is perhaps not best known as a film composer but he has indeed scored several feature films, including the 2005 thriller The Jacket starring Adrien Brody. The Lovely Bones is based on the Alice Sebold novel and stars Mark Wahlberg, Rachel Weisz and Susan Sarandon. It's Peter Jackson's first feature as a director since King Kong.
  19. FSM hat folgende neuen Titel veröffentlicht: "SWELLEGANT AUNTIE MAME AND ROME ADVENTURE PREMIERE ON CD Film Score Monthly serves up a delicious banquet of heartwarming Bronislau Kaper and romantic Max Steiner scores available for the first time on disc Linden, VA December 8, 2008 Its double your pleasure, double your fun with Film Score Monthlys latest release. FSM not only continues its presentation of the music of Bronislau Kaper, but adds its first Max Steiner score with this Warner Bros. Records two-fer: Auntie Mame and Rome Adventure. Auntie Mame (1958) began life as a bestselling novel by Patrick Dennis before treading the boards on Broadway for 639 hit performances. Extolling her mantra of live, live, LIVE, the irreverent escapades of everyones favorite madcap aunt from Beekman Place features a feast of comic vignettes that showcases the comic brio of its legendary leading lady, Rosalind Russell. Auntie Mame became a household term and to quote the films theatrical trailer, And, brother, what a household! Bronislau Kaper was a longtime member of the M-G-M music department but was loaned to Warner Bros. to score Auntie Mame. He provided a symphonic banquet as heartwarming and swellegant as Mame herself. The album is a re-recording of the scores highlights conducted (as it was in the film) by three-time Oscar winner Ray Heindorf. The second half of the album (side two on the vinyl) features a quintet of easy-listening arrangements of Kapers most famous film themes. In Rome Adventure (1962), Suzanne Pleshette leaves her assistant-librarian position in the States to find love in Italy where "they really know what loves about and finds it in the arms of American art student Troy Donahue. Based on the novel by Irving Fineman, the film costars Angie Dickinson, Hampton Fancher, trumpeter Al Hirt and Italys gift to America Rossano Brazzi. From Rome to Verona to Pisa, the film features lush cinematography of Italys incomparable countryside, all set to Max Steiners romantic score. Rome Adventure reunited Steiner with A Summer Place and Parrish star Donahue and writer/director Delmer Daves. Like water from the Trevi Fountain, Steiners score springs forth from the composers seemingly endless well of melodic themes. The requisite accordion and mandolin give the music an Old World, Italian flavor. The film also features Emilio Pericolis hit recording of Al di La, which Steiner incorporated as the love theme for the film. Side Two of the album features easy-listening arrangements of six Neapolitan favorites which were taken, at the time, from an earlier Warner Bros. Records release. This premiere CD release of both the Auntie Mame and Rome Adventure soundtrack albums is newly remastered from the original 1/4" and 1/2" stereo album tapes, respectively. Liner notes are by James Lochner. The CD is available now from Screen Archives Entertainment at www.screenarchives.com. Check it out at AUNTIE MAME / ROME ADVENTURE -- SCREEN ARCHIVES ENTERTAINMENT MAX STEINER IS ROUSING AND ROMANTIC ON NEW TWO-SCORE CD Film Score Monthly presents two different sides of the venerable father of film music: the adventurous John Paul Jones and the breezy Parrish Linden, VA December 8, 2008 Film Score Monthly offers its first full CD of the great Max Steiner with a Warner Bros. Records LP two-fer from late in the career of the Oscar-winning composer: John Paul Jones and Parrish. John Paul Jones (1959) was producer Samuel Bronstons biopic of the Revolutionary War naval hero starring Robert Stack. The film follows Jones from his boyhood days in Scotland through his years as a celebrated captain in the newly formed Continental Navy to his final position as head of the fleet of Russias Catherine the Great (Bette Davis). Steiners score is anchored by a rousing march, one of a string of marches he had written in the 1950s (as in The Caine Mutiny and Battle Cry). From colonial America to tsarist Russia and all along the high seas, Steiners music sets sail for a new generation of Golden Age fans. This CD presents the stereo album re-recording with Muir Mathieson conducting the Sinfonia of London. (Mathieson conducted the performance for the film itself as well; John Paul Jones was produced overseas, so for financial reasons its music recordings film and record were made in England.) Parrish (1961) reunited Steiner with the successful A Summer Place team of writer/director Delmer Daves and star Troy Donahue. Based on a novel by Mildred Savage, Donahue plants himself among the tobacco fields of the Lower Connecticut Valley, finding love and lust with a stable of blue-eyed fillies: Connie Stevens, Diane McBain, and Sharon McHugueny. The film also boasts a trio of Oscar-winning costars, including Dean Jagger, Karl Malden, and the return and final film of Claudette Colbert. Steiners lighthearted score is composed in his romantic A Summer Place vein, flirting with pop sensibilities in a quartet of themes for the women in Parrishs life. The LP was re-recorded as a program of the main themes from the score rather than a score album proper that follows the story of the film. Side Two features easy-listening arrangements of the main Parrish themes and other Steiner classics recorded with guest pianist George Greeley, who played on such classic scores as Picnic and On the Waterfront, and had recorded a set of popular piano albums for Warner Bros. Records. This premiere CD release of both the John Paul Jones and Parrish soundtrack albums is newly remastered from the original 1/4" and 1/2" stereo album tapes, respectively. Liner notes are by James Lochner. The CD is available now from Screen Archives Entertainment at www.screenarchives.com. Check it out at JOHN PAUL JONES / PARRISH -- SCREEN ARCHIVES ENTERTAINMENT
  21. Mit einem Riesendankeschön an Nadja: THE BLUE BOX - John Williams et al. CINEMA SEPTET von Chris Young und von ebay JAWS (25th Anniversary Edition) - John Williams
