Und noch als Ergänzung: Die Folge 29 der Drei ???, die Originalmusik, erscheint nun ebenfalls auf Vinyl. Es handelt sich dabei aber natürlich um die neue Musik, die nach dem Rechtsstreit mit Carsten Bohn zum Einsatz kam. Die ursprüngliche Folge 29 mit der Bohn-Musik ist wohl unter Sammlern die teuerste Anschaffung als LP oder MC. Bitte. Ja, die Geschichte von GABRIEL BURNS ist mit der letzten Folge noch lange nicht vorbei. Es gibt natürlich dennoch viel zu entdecken und die Serie ist toll geschrieben und produziert. Daher höre ich mir die Folgen immer wieder gerne an, obwohl ich weiß, dass es kein richtiges Ende gibt. Aber oftmals ist der Weg ja auch das Ziel und es gibt ja immerhin 45 Folgen und zwei Hörbücher. Also genug zu entdecken. Das dritte Hörbuch wurde ja leider auch nicht mehr produziert, aber hier kann man zumindest die Buchvorlage lesen. Es erschienen drei Romane zu GABRIEL BURNS, „Die Grauen Engel", „Verehrung" und „Kinder", die teilweise vor den Ereignissen der ersten Folge spielen und auch allgemein die Hintergründe noch mehr beleuchten. Zwei davon wurden eben noch als Hörbuch produziert, gelesen von Engelbert von Nordhausen, der deutschen Stimme von Samuel L. Jackson, der in GABRIEL BURNS ja den Verleger Sonny Haseltine spricht. Aktuelle Tipps habe ich gar nicht so viele, da ich neue Hörspiele fast gar nicht mehr höre, wenn es nicht die Serien sind, die ich noch verfolge. Aber in letzter Zeit höre ich aus der Serie GRUSELKABINETT mal wieder einige von deren Lovecraft-Adaptionen. Sehr gut gefällt mir da DIE FARBE AUS DEM ALL, eine wirklich beklemmende Geschichte, die auch toll als Hörspiel umgesetzt ist. DER TEMPEL ist ebenfalls schön spooky, wie auch PICKMANS MODELL, DAS DING AUF DER SCHWELLE und DIE BERGE DES WAHNSINNS. Nicht von Lovecraft, aber auch vom GRUSELKABINETT, ist DAS DING. Allerdings nicht verwandt mit der Geschichte, auf der die Filme basieren. Eine ähnliche Geschichte erzählt KLIRRENDE KÄLTE vom kleinen Label Pandora's Play. Das ist auch ein tolles und gruseliges Hörspiel. Oder eben DER WEG ZUR DUNKELMÜHLE aus der Serie POINT WHITMARK. Das ist eine Halloween-Geschichte.

Leider ja. Vor ein paar Jahren gab es noch mal ein Interview mit Volker Sassenberg, in dem er meinte, dass er GABRIEL BURNS eigentlich gerne fortführen würde und war auch recht zuversichtlich, dass das in den nächsten Monaten geschehen würde. Aber passiert ist nichts. Daher gehe ich davon aus, dass das Projekt tot ist, ebenso wie die anderen Sassenberg-Projekte POINT WHITMARK und ABSEITS DER WEGE. Bei GABRIEL BURNS kommt nun ja auch noch dazu, dass Jürgen Kluckert gestorben ist und damit hat die Serie keinen Erzähler mehr. Und da Sassenberg schon bei ABSEITS DER WEGE eigentlich nicht weitermachen wollte, nachdem auch dort der Erzähler gestorben ist, dürfte das bei BURNS wohl auch nicht anders sein. Aber wie gesagt, das Projekt war auch vorher schon tot. Da ist wohl einfach zu viel schief gelaufen zwischen Sassenberg, dem ursprünglichen Autoren und dann auch noch die ganzen Rechtsstreitigkeiten mit den Labeln. Sassenberg hat sicherlich auch bestimmte Konditionen an eine Weiterführung gestellt, die aber scheinbar kein Label bereit war, zu erfüllen. POINT WHITMARK wanderte ja auch zwischen mehreren Labeln hin und her. Da gab es dann ja sogar eine Neuauflage aller Folgen. Bei BURNS gab es dann auch Remastered-Versionen der Folgen, aber da kam dann keine neue Folge mehr nach. Bei POINT WHITMARK erschienen die beiden letzten Folgen, die ja schon fertig produziert waren, bevor wieder das Label wechselte, dann doch noch. Bei BURNS wurde scheinbar alles veröffentlicht, was auch fertig produziert war. Die Bücher für weitere Folgen waren wohl schon lange fertig, aber aufgenommen wurden sie nicht mehr. Und die letzten Folgen von BURNS erschienen ja auch nur noch in immer größeren Abständen, natürlich bedingt durch die Labelwechsel und den Rechtsstreit. Da waren ja erst Monate und dann sogar über ein Jahr dazwischen. Und sowas ist in der heutigen Zeit sicherlich auch nicht förderlich, wenn man Hörer an eine Serie binden will.

Mittlerweile hat auch Andris Zeiberts seine Musik aus den Europa-Hörspielen aus den 90er Jahren als Album veröffentlicht. Und nachdem es die ersten drei Volumes von Carsten Bohns BRANDNEW OLDIES schon seit längerem auf Vinyl gibt, ist nun auch Volume 4 auf Vinyl erschienen. Exklusiv bei JPC gibt es das Album inklusive einer Picture Disc und des Live-Konzerts.

Snow Files of the Week: "Ice Cubes/Dan to the Rescue/Hit and Run/No One Ever Leaves Me/Victoria's Madness" aus dem TV-Film "Seduced and Betrayed" (1995). In den frühen 90ern eroberte BASIC INSTINCT die Kinos und wurde fast gleichzeitig ein moderner Klassiker. Der Film verhalf dem Genre des Erotikthrillers zu neuer Popularität und in den Jahren danach folgten viele Filme, die so sein wollten wie dieser. Das trifft auch auf den Score von Jerry Goldsmith zu. Als SEDUCED AND BETRAYED 1995 auf der Bildfläche erschien, versuchte auch er die sexuellen Spannungen des großen Vorbilds zu kopieren. Und es ist ziemlich offensichtlich, dass Goldsmiths Score als Temp Track diente, bevor Mark mit seiner Arbeit begann. Sein Main Theme ist im Grunde nur eine minimal veränderte Variation von Goldsmiths Thema. Für den Rest des Scores griff Mark aber auf seine bekannten Stilismen zurück. Das Main Theme erschien bereits auf dem Sampler "The Snow Files". Der Score wurde, zusammen mit CAROLINE AT MIDNIGHT, auf "The Mark Snow Collection Vol.2" von Dragon's Domain Records veröffentlicht. Die CD ist auf 500 Stück limitiert. Viel Spaß beim Hören!

Genau. 8,11 Euro musste ich zahlen und davon waren 6 Euro die DHL-Gebühr. Der Zoll zieht mittlerweile jeden Betrag ein.

Der „Niedergang" begann für mich, als Varese Colosseum Schallplatten in Nürnberg als ihren europäischen Vertriebspartner abgestoßen haben. Das hat Varese merklich geschadet, aber nachdem sie ja auch mehrmals verkauft wurden, passierte das, was in solchen Fällen immer passiert: Es muss optimiert und Geld gespart werden, wo es nur geht. Durch den Weggang von Robert Townson hat Varese dann zusätzlich an Profil verloren und die schon genannte Entscheidung mit England als neuem europäischen Vertriebspartner ging dann ebenfalls ziemlich daneben. Durch den Brexit war es nicht mehr günstiger oder stressfreier für europäische Kunden, wenn sie dort statt in den USA bestellt haben, also ging das Geschäftsmodell ja auch relativ schnell den Bach runter. Um ganz ehrlich zu sein, dachte ich bei dieser Curtain-Call-Ansage von Varese im ersten Moment, dass es das jetzt komplett gewesen ist mit Varese und die den Laden dicht machen. Überrascht hätte es mich nicht wirklich, nachdem, was da eben in den letzten Jahren so passiert ist.

Was man hat, hat man.

Vermutlich wie so oft kommen die überlasteten Presswerke einfach nicht schnell genug nach. Aber die Verschiebung hält sich bisher ja in Grenzen. Die Veröffentlichung des Vinyl-Albums zu SCREAM 5 beispielsweise wird seit einem Jahr immer wieder von Varese verschoben, ebenfalls ohne Erklärung. In der Zwischenzeit kam schon SCREAM 6 heraus, den Varese ebenfalls auf Vinyl anbietet. Momentan mit Veröffentlichungsdatum Februar 2024.

Von Digitmovies kommt eine 3CD-Box mit TV-Musiken. Digitmovies presents, for the first time in a complete edition in a 3-CD box, 6 OSTs by Guido and Maurizio De Angelis, composed for television between 1972 and 1975 and taken from the archive of the historic RCA. So, CD ist da. Und auch komplett heile. Nachdem manche berichtet haben, dass bei ihnen das Case und/oder die Halterung der CD gebrochen war. Aber alles paletti. Die LP wurde allerdings noch nicht verschickt.

Mal sehen, die CD kam heute doch nicht. Laut Sendungsstatus ging sie heute Morgen in Zustellung, aber der nächste Status sagt, dass die Sendung heute nicht zugestellt werden kann und es morgen nochmal versucht wird. Die Post macht es spannend.

Ich weiß. Daher wundert es mich eben, dass die CD, die eigentlich erst im Oktober verschickt werden sollte, schon vorher da ist. Wohl ein weiteres Indiz dafür, dass Disney nichts hat nachpressen lassen, sondern scheinbar Restbestände zusammengekratzt hat, wo sie nur konnten. Vielleicht haben sie ja auch die Bestände in Disneyland, wo die CD auch verkauft wurde, reduziert.

Snow Files of the Week: "El Lobo/Sling Blade" aus "The Lone Gunmen" (2001). Das kurzlebige X-Files-Spin-Off hat, auch durch seine drei Hauptdarsteller, einen humoristischen Ansatz. Die Folgen sind bei Weitem nicht so düster wie bei den X-Akten, obwohl David Duchovny in einer Episode einen Auftritt als Mulder hat und das Ganze natürlich im X-Files-Universum spielt. Die Serie endet mit einem Cliffhanger, der in der neunten Staffel der X-Akten, in der Folge "Jump the Shark", aufgelöst wird. Die "Lone Gunmen" (der Titel bezieht sich auf die Zeitung, die die drei publizieren und darin angebliche Regierungsverschwörungen aufdecken, gewählt wegen des angeblich "Einzigen Schützen" Lee Harvey Oswald, der Kennedy erschossen hat) helfen Mulder bei den X-Akten immer wieder mit ihren technischen Fähigkeiten. Mark Snows Musik ist ebenfalls weit weniger düster als die der Mutterserie. Er benutzt das schmissige Hauptthema in verschiedenen Variationen innerhalb seiner Musik und liefert hier und da sogar sehr James-Bond-mäßige Agentenmusik ab. La-La-Land Records veröffentlichte eine CD mit der Musik, limitiert auf 2000 Stück. Die CD enthält außerdem noch Musik der vierten Chris-Carter-Serie HARSH REALM. Das Album ist ausverkauft. Viel Spaß beim Hören!

Wie erwartet, kann man schon so sagen, bringt Varèse auch diese Deluxe Edition auf Vinyl. Expected to ship the week of November 10, 2023. April Fool's Day is a 1986 American black comedy mystery slasher film that follows a group of college students vacationing during April Fool's Day weekend on an island estate, which is infiltrated by an unknown assailant. This Deluxe Edition release marks the first availability of the album on vinyl in 35 years, and features the first-ever release of the film’s original orchestral score, as well as five unreleased bonus tracks from the composer Charles Bernstein’s vaults.

Meine Disc soll heute ankommen. Ich habe allerdings erst beim dritten Auftauchen der CD dort bestellt und eigentlich sollte die CD ja erst im Oktober verschickt werden. Dafür ist die LP, die ich vorher bestellt habe, noch nicht verschickt worden.
