The smash hit that transformed the horror genre was also responsible for introducing one of the most exciting composers to debut in the 1990s!

Back in 1998 Marco Beltrami's expansive Scream score was forced to share a 30-minute CD with the composer's sequel score from Scream 2. It was certainly better than having it never be released at all but the album was missing a lot of music. Finally, 15 years after the film was first released and coinciding with the release of the fourth film in the franchise, a proper Scream release featuring over 60 minutes of music is at last available.

After a series of mysterious deaths, an offbeat group of friends get caught up in a lively mix of thrills and chills! Wes Craven directed a cast that included Drew Barrymore, Courtney Cox, Neve Campbell, Skeet Ulrich and David Arquette.

Had we not lost the great Jerry Goldsmith so pre-maturely in 2004, at the ages of 75, he would have turned 80 in 2009. To remember and celebrate the legendary composer on this very special occasion, producer Robert Townson and the Fimucité festival in Tenerife staged an extraordinary concert. Its never possible to represent all of Goldsmiths classics in any one concert. The idea here was to focus on Jerrys music for science fiction and horror films. This opened the door to include some pieces that dont get as much concert attention as the obligatory (though masterful and much-loved) Patton, Chinatown and Rudy.

This meant we could offer premiere concert performances of neglected gems such at The Illustrated Man, The Swarm and The Final Conflict. We could even shine a rare spotlight on Capricorn One, The Sum of All Fears and even The Omen! Rounding out the blockbuster program was music from fan-favorites Planet of the Apes, Star Trek: First Contact, Gremlins, Poltergeist and Total Recall!

It was a remarkable evening which also included a special award to Jerry Goldsmith, accepted in person by his wife, Carol.

Conducted by Mark Snow and Diego Navarro, the Jerry Goldsmith 80th Birthday Tribute and Celebration was a glorious evening and it can now be shared with fans of the composers work all over the world.

This 2-disc set includes a DVD of the concert and a CD of just the music. A beautiful DVD booklet (something that seems to be being left out of all but the most elaborate collector DVD sets these days) is also included.

A young man named Kaz (Scott Valentine), afflicted with the curse of turning into an animal at the least sign of sexual arousal, tries to remain friends with a girl he's just met (Michelle Little). Meanwhile, he recruits a bizarre street scientist (Arnold Johnson) to create an antidote to the curse before it's too late.

David Newman's talent was apparent even in the early days and My Demon Lover shows off the composer in a variety of different styles.

Herrmann könnte was für mich sein, Beltrami steht etwas auf der Kippe, die Goldsmith-Huldigung brauche ich nicht so dringend, MY DEMON LOVER scheint mir bestenfalls als Investitionsobjekt geeignet, von wegen 1000er Auflage.

Bin in diesem Zusammenhang sehr gespannt, ob die HITCHCOCK HOUR für Varese funktioniert oder doch zum Staubfänger wird...

Herrmann-Soundfiles klingen nett, nicht mehr. Herrmann eben. Bei mir bleibts beim Demon Lover. Netter Synthie-Score mit hübschen Jazzelementen!

Aber der große Wurf ist diese Staffel auch für mich nicht... Egal, nächste Woche kommt ja auch wieder Intrada!!!!

Naja, das war ja mal weniger spektakulär würde ich sagen. Ich glaub das ganze batch hat auch nur wegen dieser albernen dvd so lange gedauert. Ich brauchs nicht. Können die sowas nicht einfach separat vom club veröffentlichen und gut ists?

Scream ist nix für mich. Der newman ist für mich als fan interessant und auch der herrmann. Aber die großen würfe sind das jetzt auch nicht.

Also "Scream" ist nicht komplett, da fehlen noch einige kleine Sachen. Aber trotzdem hübsch, dass man den jetzt mal verlängert hat. Der Newman ist halt die klassische 1000er-Kuriosität, Herrmann ist für mich Pflicht und vom Goldsmith habe ich alles bereits in der Originaleinspielung. Eine klassische Varèse-Staffel halt, aber ich glaube, dass besonders an der Hitchcock-Doppel-CD Townsons Herz hängt. Es sieht nicht so aus, als würde das alles wahnsinnig schnell weggehen und ich warte jetzt die ersten Warnungen ab, die wahrscheinlich am Ehesten beim Newman oder beim Beltrami auftreten werden.

Nur weil ich die Arbeiten eines Komponisten nicht kenne, heißt das für mich nicht, dass er ein schlechter Komponist ist! Es gibt für mich keine schlechten Komponisten!
