morgen dann bei Intrada... hat Fake schon zugesagt... naja, fand den Score ziemlich fad soweit ich mich erinnern kann... oder kann wer was dazu sagen???

ich find, das ist ne bomben veröffentlichung. silvestri ist hier ne coole mischung aus westernmusik und popmusik gelungen. das war ja beim ersten teil nicht ganz der fall, obwohl der ein sehr ohrwurmiges hauptthema hat. aber auch silvestri hat für den 2. teil ein schönes hauptthema komponiert. mir gefällt der langsame aufbau sowie der indianergesang sehr gut. an den restlichen score kann ich mich zwar jetzt nicht mehr so wirklich erinnern, aber ich glaub der war recht orchestral gehalten. naja wie gesagt ich freu mich drauf. vielleicht packen sie den ersten teil ja mit rauf. so schlecht war der nämlich auch nicht.

Silvestri hat sogar mehrere themen in dem score verarbeitet. Ein cooler genremix aus pop und western, wobei western hier vor allem mit mexikanisch angehauchten klängen vertreten ist. Das ganze war schon eine frische sache von silvestri damals.

erinner ich echt null, ausser dass es nicht sowas wie von Broughton oder naja BTTF war... hat er den ersten Teil auch gemacht??? hab ich auch gar nicht mehr aufm Zettel, den hatte doch Horner vertont und wurde rejected oder?

der erste ist von anthony marinelli und brian banks. der film hat ein wirklich catchiges hauptthema. das fiel mir damals schon auf, da hatte ich mit filmmusik noch gar nix am hut. auch die ruhigen stücken sind gelungen. alles halt sehr modern gehalten. slivestris musik zum 2. teil klingt jedoch erwachsener und modern-orchestraler. orchestral ist der erste glaub ich gar nicht.

For the 1990 sequel to the surprise hit Young Guns, Alan Silvestri was brought on board to provide a strong, masculine score for a striking band of outlaws led by Billy the Kid. Silvestri had scored another western of sorts that year with the final installment of the Back to the Future trilogy. But Young Guns II would mark Silvestri’s first work on a “real” western, and it offered the composer an opportunity to create not only rousing action but also music of surprising dramatic weight and power—truly one of the composer’s finest works. Part of the challenge on both Young Guns movies was to embrace the sound of a traditional western score while echoing the “rock star” aesthetic of Billy the Kid and his gang. With his background as a guitarist and drummer and over a decade of experience in both electronic and orchestral film scoring, Silvestri was uniquely suited to tackle this challenge. His main Young Guns theme has all the sweep and energy of a classic western melody, with a subtle south-of-the-border flavor and an almost pious ending cadence of four notes that idolizes Billy and the gang with pop rock fervor and eulogizes them with weary resolve.

Young Guns II contunues the story of Billy the Kid, Scurlock and Chavez, as well as new characters played by Christian Slater, Alan Ruck and young Balthazar Ghetty. Young Guns II focused on the famous, closing chapter of the Billy the Kid story: Billy’s relationship with Pat Garrett, a man who once rode with the Kid but who would eventually turn on the young outlaw and help authorities to track him down.

Ist ja Sinn und Zweck der Übung: du sollst ausreichend Zeit zum Bestellen haben aber eben nicht bis Ultimo. Wenn dich der Titel interessiert solltest du zeitnah ( nicht erst Weihnachten) zuschlagen.....nur so als Tipp

Naja, für die ganz kurz entschlossenen gibts ja ne warnung bevor die titel gelöscht werden wenn sie sich nicht gut verkaufen. Bin mal gespannt, ob young guns 2 dieses schicksal ereilen wird. Kann ich mir aber nicht vorstellen. Der titel ist doch recht oft nachgefragt worden. Und sollte er erfolgreich sein wird ja angeblich nun nachgepresst, d.h. im prinzip könntest du auch ewig warten.

Leider nur die meisten crossfades (ähnlich wie bei Bill& Ted's Bogus Journey und Predator) unter aller Kanone. Da werden Stücke die musikalisch nichts gemein haben und dann auch noch ein völlig anderes Tempo besitzen ineinander gemixt, das muss doch nicht sein.

Ich fand die crossfades jetzt garnicht so schlimm. Aber gut, da hat jeder seine vorlieben. Mir ist hier vor allem wichtig gewesen, dass alles komplett dabei ist und der klang besser ist als von den bootlegs. Wenn ich mich richtig erinnere waren auf der recording sessions bootleg noch zwei alternates von den größeren actiontracks dabei. Die wären vielleicht als dreingabe noch ganz nett gewesen, wobei die unterschiede nicht gravierend sind. Aber so ist die präsentation auch gut.

Was ist eigentlich mit der Film Version des Main Titles? Gabs die mal irgendwo? Hat michs chon gewundert, dass Intrada da bei der kurzen Laufzeit keine Extras mit drauf gepackt hat.

Ich muss mal in die albumcredits schauen, vielleicht hat silvestri das album auch selber zusammengestellt. Kann mich an den film nicht groß erinnern, keine ahnung wie groß der unterschied zwischen den beiden main title versionen ist.

Schon ziemlich. Die zweite hälfte is mit ner egitarre unterlegt und die orchestrierung des hauptthemas ist auch leicht verändert. Da Anfang und Ende baer unverändert sind ists vielleicht auch n re-score...

Nochmal zu den verkäufen: Intrada wird mit diesem release wohl durchaus erfolg haben. Momentan steht der titel immernoch auf platz 7 der top ten weekly titel bei screenarchives. Man weiß zwar nicht, was das genau in zahlen bedeutet aber da SAE der größte händler für score cds ist und andere händler (inklusive intrada selbst) die cd auch umsetzen wird das wohl gute zahlen bedeuten. Wer weiß, vielleicht wird in kürze sogar ein re-pressing angekündigt. Mal schaun.

Und ganz nebenbei hat der gute sheriff joe von FSM wohl seinerzeit die entscheidung für silvestri bei diesem film mit beeinflusst (aus dem intrada forum):

Young Guns II was in the middle of principle photography when I began working at Morgan Creek. Everyone there knew I was a huge soundtrack fan and collector at that time, except for the film's producers, who had been on set with the cast and crew filming. When Paul Schiff returned, I heard him talking about who they might want as a composer for the film. At that time, he was debating between Alan Silvestri and Basil Poledouris. I immediately supplied him with every score I had from both composers (I remember specifically Paul asking for Red October and Abyss, while for Silvestri, I provided Fandango to go along with Predator and Clan of the Cave Bear).

A couple days later, Paul returned my CDs to me and said they were going to go with Alan Silvestri. I was JAZZED!!! Later, during the scoring process, I had the opportuntiy to go to the 20th Centruy Fox lot, where Maestro Silvestri was recording his score...I was running some sort of errand on another Morgan Creek project and ran into Excutive Producer David Nicksay, Paul Schiff, director Geoff Murphy and Mr. Silvestri. They were heading to lunch and they invited me to go with them.

Due to the other errand, I had to say no, but that would have been just the BEST LUNCH EVER!

Anyway, due to the success of Young Guns II, Morgan Creek hired Geoff Murphy to direct Freejack and Emilio was already signed on to star in that film. Sadly, Freejack wasn't the hit they hoped it would be (although signing Mick Jagger was kinda wild!).

Anyway, that's my story. It's the only time that I actually had input into which composer might work on a film I was involved in at that point in my Hollywood career. Later, Mr. Schiff provided me with a DAT recording of THE VANISHING by my hero, (you know who!!) before a soundtrack was ever even considered (that wouldn't be for another ten years of so!!).

I was (and still am) so very grateful to Mr. Schiff and Morgan Creek for the opportunities they provided, even though I decided to go in a different direction career-wise after that.

Oh yeah, and by the way, Intrada just got my order for this score. Thanks, guys, for bringing such a fun piece of music to the fans. And, needless to say, but I will say it anyway, Alan Silvestri is one of the nicest guys in the industry. It's great to see his unreleased music get the recognition it deserves!!

Ich bin darüber ja schon etwas erstaunt, handelt es sich doch um einen sehr gefragten silvestri titel. Bin eigentlich davon ausgegangen, dass er mindestens bis nächstes jahr verfügbar bleibt.
