Continuing our series of anniversary film music compilations, we have produced a blockbuster to celebrate our 35th.  There is no duplication here.  For our 35th anniversary we look back at our greatest releases over the last five years.  And being the biggest and most prolific film music record label in the world, that meant we had over 250 soundtracks to choose from!

Ich muß sagen, daß mich die beiden Vorgänger-Sampler zum Kauf einiger Soundtrack-Alben angeregt haben. Von daher finde ich diese Compilation für mich absolut kaufenswert! Zumal ich bis auf 3 Soundtracks keinen von den Titeln in der Sammlung habe, oder gar gehört habe.

Ich habe gehofft, dass bei STAR TREK End Credits gewählt wird, aber dieses Stück beihnaltet in diesen 2:30 Min. eigentlich eh schon das Hauptthema.

Zum 35. Jubiläum gibt es auch wieder einen Gala-Abend. Varesé hat heute bekannt gegeben, dass auch Danny Elfman dabei sein wird. Damit reiht er sich ein bei John Powell, Mark Isham, Michael Giacchino, John Debney, Joel McNeely, Christopher Lennertz und Diego Navarro.

Weil diese Box einen guten Überblick über die veröffentlichten Soundtracks der letzten 5 Jahre bietet ... aber vor allem, da es eine gute Zusammenstellung ist. Wie schon bei den Boxen zuvor werden meistens die besten Tracks der Alben veröffentlicht ... also eine Art "Best of"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!......Varèse Sarabande hat mir schon viele wundervolle Scoremomente verschafft. Den Stil der Covergestaltung ist auch stets ein Augenschmaus. Doch wenn man fast 90% der Soundtracks hat, wovon hier nun eine Zusammenstellung herauskommt, lohnt es sich einfach nicht wirklich.

 

Wobei mir einfällt:

 

 ... also eine Art "Best of"

 

Eine "Best of" für wen? DAS BESTE für den Einen ist nicht DAS BESTE für den Anderen. Bei Samplern ist das eben so eine Sache....früher oder später hat man so einiges doppelt bis mehrfach. Das muss nun wirklich nicht sein. Für Einsteiger und Kennenlernende ist dieses Geburtstagsjuwel besser geeignet, als für Eingefleischte HARDSCORESAMMLER... und Genießer.

Bei den früheren Veröffentlichungen, vor allem 90'er habe ich mir sehr viele Scores von Varese geholt ... in den letzten 5 Jahren aber nur noch die Besten (aus meiner Sicht) ... bei vielen Scores genügt mir das Hauptthema oder das beste Stück davon vollkommen.

 

Meiner Meinung nach repräsentieren folgende Stücke die jeweiligen Alben am besten (oder es handelt sich sogar um das beste Stück überhaupt!):

 

Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears A Who! (John Powell) Horton Suite (7:46) (dieses Album ist mein Lieblingsscore von Powell :-)

Speed Racer (Michael Giacchino) Let Us Drink Milk (4:33)

In jedem Fall. Ich zum Beispiel mag Filmmusik nur in zwei Formaten: Als Einzelveröffentlichung zu einem Film oder als kuratierte Konzert-Aufzeichnung/Einspielung. Zusammenstellungen von Einzel-Tracks, dann auch noch unter der eh etwas wackligen Überschrift "Label-Porträt", interessieren mich in etwa so sehr wie "versuitete" Soundtracks.
