We are releasing on CD, for the very first time in full edition, Giovanni Fusco’s “The Cossacks” OST.

THE SOUNDTRACK Giovanni Fusco (Sant'Agata de' Goti, October 10th, 1908 – Rome, June 1st, 1968) composed a symphonic commentary masterfully directed by Carlo Savina. The composer created a dramatic main theme alternated to russian dances, coral tracks, waltzes, polkas, quadrilles, battle musics and a moving love theme that often recurs in the soundtrack. We used mono master tapes of the session of that time, which allowed us to assemble a 73:23-minutes-long CD. Another CD dedicated to the great Giovanni Fusco, Michelangelo Antonioni’ s favorite musician.

DIRECTOR AND CAST Directed by Giorgio Rivalta and Viktor Tourjansky in 1959 and starring Edmund Purdom, John Drew Barrymore, Pierre Brice, Massimo Girotti, Giorgia Moll.

PLOT To control the Circassians, submissive but not subdued, the Russians take young Jamal, son the chief Chamil, hostage. Jamal is sent to Petersburg, where he attends a military school. The young man pledges allegiance to the Zar. He even saves his life, which outrages his dad who, in the meantime, decides to go back to the guerrilla warfare. Russian troops, leaded by Price Voronzoff, act against the Circassians. Chamil imprisons Jamal and Tatiana, Voronzoff’s daughter, whom Jamal loves. After lots of adventures the two manage to escape.

We are releasing on CD, for the very first time in full edition, Nico Fidenco’s drama “Country lady” OST.

THE SOUNDTRACK Nico Fidenco (pseudonym of Domenico Colarossi), notorious singer and author of cult OSTs such as the Emanuelle series, has composed an evocative musical commentary directed by his all time collaborator Giacomo Dell’Orso, which reflects the struggle both internal and physical of the members of a family. This daily battle full of resentment and humiliations has the Po valley fogs on the background, wistfully described by a recurring theme with strings, very sweet and sad, where a feeling of extreme lonliness emerges. The author contrats the sweetness with dissonant tracks, which reflect the characters’ mood. He also alternates many fox-trots of that period. For this 60:00-minutes-long CD we used Recording Session’s stereo masters.

DIRECTOR AND CAST Directed by Claudio De Molinis in 1980 and starring Philippe Leroy, Rossana Podestà, Christian Borromeo, Silvia Dionisio, Daniele Gohl, Serena Grandi, Mario Maranzana, Elisa Minardi, Carmen Scarpitta, Antonio Serrano, Silvano Tranquilli.

PLOT During Fascism Guido Maldini, manager of the property on behalf of his cousin Floriana, lives in a ranch in the Po valley with Anna, his wife, their children Alberto and Elisa and the maid Aida. Dispotic and violent, Guido exercises his power, without any sign of faithfulness nor devotion, on his wife and children. Once every two weeks he goes to the nearest brothel, he even forces Anna to do humiliating sexual practices. He also despises Alberto, young shy and sensitive boy, judging him spineless and coward. After trying multiple times to escape from home, the boy - who even tried to shoot his father – seems to find peace when his cousin Gloria comes to the ranch, planning a getaway to Milan together. Even this plan fails because the girl, who is raped by Guido in front of his son to demonstrate his virility, leaves the ranch for good. At this point, all the family members and the maid, team up to kill him, by simulating a suicide through hanging.

Digitmovies presents on CD the original soundtrack from the film "Flesh Contagium". Music Composed by: Daniele Marinelli, Luca Maria Burocchi, Riccardo Adamo Performed by: Basement's Glare

DIRECTOR AND CAST Directed by Lorenzo Lepori in 2020 and starring Pio Bisanti, Shiri Binder, Lorenzo Lepori.

PLOT In a world devastated by epidemic, humans seek refuge outside the cities. Pursued by armed groups called "executors", the protagonists end up in an old fortress apparently abandoned: instead they will find something that goes beyond their worst nightmares.

ABOUT BASEMENT’S GLARE The project began shortly before the Covid-19 pandemic exploded. Following the restrictions caused by the imposed isolation, Basement's Glare have recorded and released their first single, Red Zone, which deals directly with the issue of social distancing and its consequences. Subsequently, the duo decided to complete the recordings of the eponymous EP as previously scheduled, working mostly remotely. Basement's Glare are composed by Riccardo Adamo and Daniele Marinelli as stable members, and by various session musicians. The collaboration turned out to be so fruitful and satisfying that the duo decided to cement it, opening musical horizons and making Basement's Glare an all-round musical project, with no limits of musical genre or intended use. The official soundtrack composed for the film "Flesh Contagium" is forthcoming.

Dinosaur_City_Presentation_Pack_1024x102

CD includes digital download package - 24 bit Wav, MP3, Digital PDF

Dragon’s Domain Records, to be distributed through buysoundtrax.com, presents the original motion picture soundtrack to ADVENTURES IN DINOSAUR CITY, featuring music composed by Fredric Ensign Teetsel for the 1991 family adventure film directed by Brett Thompson, written by Wili Baronet and Lisa Morton, starring Omri Katz, Tiffanie Poston, Shawn Hoffman, Rob Sherwood, Patrick Labyorteaux and David Joliffe.

ADVENTURES IN DINOSAUR CITY was a made-for-television motion picture, telling the spiked tale of three teenage “horn-heads” named Timmy (Katz), Jamie (Poston), and Mick (Hoffman) whose favorite TV show is an animated retro-60’s callback called DINOSAURS. This fictitious cartoon series centers on the lives of anthropomorphic dinosaurs inhabiting Tar Town and Saur City. One morning while attempting to watch another episode of DINOSAURS on VHS, Timmy tires of his tiny television set and proffers a “volcanic idea.” He and his companions go into Timmy’s parent’s scientific laboratory adjacent to his house where the “Ultrasaurus of televisions” occupies a massive chunk of the lab floor. Timmy’s parents are both brilliant research scientists who have just achieved a major breakthrough the same morning after they’ve successfully transported an orange through a vortex in the space-time continuum via their television set while “safely” returning the damaged fruit back to its present existence. Timmy inserts the tape into the lab’s high-tech VHS player, hits the play button, and turns on the mammoth television set. The opening title sequence of DINOSAURS appears in all its glory as a laser positioned behind them pierces a hole in the space-time continuum transporting Timmy, Jaimie, and Mick through a vortex to the world of their favorite television show. Upon their arrival in Saur City, the trio encounter their favorite animated characters as live-action creatures: a flightless Dimorphodon named Forry (Sherwood), a Tyrannosaurus named Rex (Labyorteaux), and a Triceratops named Tops (Jolliffe). With the kids’ help, the unlikely alliance journeys to Tar Town igniting a revolution against the evil Mr. Big (Labyorteaux’s voice), and his army of troglodyte henchmen known as The Rockies. ADVENTURES IN DINOSAUR CITY was released on VHS in the United States on October 23, 1991, and relished frequent airings on The Disney Channel throughout the early 1990s. Its modest success might be due in part to the popularity of Jim Henson’s hit television series DINOSAURS (1991-1994) which debuted on the American Broadcasting Company six months prior to the release of DINOSAUR CITY.

The music for ADVENTURES IN DINOSAUR CITY was composed and conducted by Fredric Ensign Teetsel, a jack-of-all-trades musician and movie geek who composed the score for THE HAUNTING OF MORELLA, served as an orchestrator for Mark Governor on MINDWARP and contracted the orchestra who performed Mark McKenzie’s score for WARLOCK: THE ARMAGEDDON. Even though Teetsel originally had visions of Russell Garcia’s THE TIME MACHINE or Nathan Van Cleave’s ROBINSON CRUSOE ON MARS forming the foundation for his musical approach to ADVENTURES IN DINOSAUR CITY, upon the conclusion of the initial spotting session, the producers handed Teetsel some of Danny Elfman’s soundtrack albums and told him this is what they wanted. Unfazed by their intended direction, Teetsel leaped into scoring DINOSAUR CITY with fervor. The film’s limited scoring budget allowed the composer to scribe a healthy chunk of cues for a modest-sized orchestra. The remainder would be tracked using synthesizers. Being a classically-trained pencil-and-paper composer, Teetsel would sketch all of his music on six to eight stave manuscript paper regardless of how the completed cue would be performed.

Fredric Teetsel was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, and has been involved with a number of orchestras there. A graduate of the Groves School of Music, Teetsel found work orchestrating and conducting; he was Composer in Residence for the Scottsdale Symphony Orchestra in Arizona from 1983-1986 and 1986-1989 found him an in-house composer producing commercial jingles for local television and radio. He moved back to Los Angeles in 1989 and began visiting movie studios in the hopes of becoming involved in film scoring. One of them was Corman’s Concorde Pictures and THE HAUNTING OF MORELLA would be his first film score. His ongoing relationship with four professional orchestras in Arizona has supplied him with opportunities for commissions for pop orchestra arrangements and original compositions.

Dragon’s Domain Records is excited to bring ADVENTURES IN DINOSAUR CITY to compact disc for the first time, mastered by James Nelson at Digital Outland with liner notes by author and composer Brian Satterwhite, with the participation of the composer.

ADVENTURES IN DINOSAUR CITY is a limited edition release of 500 units. As a special offer, the first 50 people to order the album from the record label’s website will have their copy autographed by the composer at no additional charge.

ADVENTURES IN DINOSAUR CITY is expected to begin shipping the week of March 8th.

Von Plantsounds kommt ein Album mit dem vom Jazz-Musiker Fuzzy komponierten Score für den dänischen Animationsfilm H. C. Andersen & Den Skæve Skygge aus dem Jahr 1998.

What happens when you allow one of your countries finest composers to score a film about the most beloved author from that very same country?
The answer is right here:

H. C. Andersen & Den Skæve Skygge (Eng.: The Long Shadow) is one of many wonderful collaborations between composer Fuzzy (real name Jens Vilhelm Pedersen) and director Jannik Hastrup.
Together they have produced some of the most well known animated films from Denmark in the 80’s and 90’s, and this movie is no exception.

Not as light-hearted as many had expected, the film failed at the boxoffice upon it’s release in 1998, and has been largely forgotten since then.

The film is not without merit though, and was certainly a very ambitious one!
This is especially evident when listening to Fuzzy’s orchestral score.
In fact, this may well be the most ambitious film score ever composed for a Danish feature film?

Recorded in Prague, by the Prague Philharmonics under the guidance of conductor Mario Klemens, this 44 minute score shows what an orchestra can do when performing the music composer by a true master.
And Fuzzy is nothing less than just that: A masterful composer!

Long hailed as one of Europes leading contemporary composers, his ability to write big lush themes and intricate orchestral textures is in full display here, and we are very proud to give this score the attention it deserves.

Zitat

Waxwork Records is thrilled to present the debut release of ALICE, SWEET ALICE Original Motion Picture Soundtrack by Stephen Lawrence. Alice, Sweet Alice is a 1976 American Slasher-Horror film directed by Alfred Sole and starring Brooke Shields in her film debut. Set in 1961 New Jersey, the film focuses on a troubled adolescent girl who becomes the suspect in the brutal murder of her younger sister at her first communion, as well as in a series of unsolved stabbings that follow.

In the years since its release, Alice, Sweet Alice has gained a cult following and is considered a contemporary classic of the slasher sub-genre in critical circles. It has also been the focus of scholarship in the areas of horror film studies, particularly regarding its depictions of Roman Catholicism, child emotional neglect, and the disintegration of the American nuclear family.

The film’s chilling score was composed by Stephen Lawrence. Lawrence is an American composer that has scored more than 300 songs and musical cues for Sesame Street, resulting in three Emmy Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction and Composition. The music of Alice, Sweet Alice features heavy usage of dissonant strings, repetitive keys, church organ, and motifs that segue from eerily mischievous and playful to dread inducing and utterly haunting.

Available for the very first time in any format, the complete soundtrack to Alice, Sweet Alice comes available on 180 gram “Yellow Rain Coat with Blood Red Splatter”, deluxe packaging with new artwork by Steven Reeves, old style tip-on gatefold jackets, a heavyweight insert, exclusive composer liner notes, and original recording session photography.

Von Digitmovies kommt am 24. März schon das nächste Neuheiten-Trio mit Scores von Franco Bixio, Stelvio Cipriani und Ivan Vandor.

Ivan Vandor (Pécs, 1932) has written many OSTs like “I giorni contati” (1962), “Nudi per vivere” (1964), “Amori pericolosi” (1964), “Andremo in città” (1966), “Se sei vivo spara” (1967). “Death on the run” commentary has all the classic features of Eurospy genre: jazz, blues, latin, Balcan music, a wild shake, love themes and orchestal passages full of tension and violence. A young Stelvio Cipriani vigorously conducts the Orchestra. For this 57:00-minutes-long CD of ours we used Recording Session’s mono masters.

We are very happy to release a double CD with three completely unpublished soundtracks of our great friend Stelvio Cipriani, based on costume erotic comedies influenced by antique novels of Decameron and Boccaccio. This thrilogy was formerly supposed to be a quadrilogy with “...E continuavano a mettere lo diavolo ne lo inferno”, but unfortunately the master tapes were lost. Thanks to stereo master tapes, we used every single note recorded back then, with a result of 140 minutes of music. The author composed many themes that go from classical passages to more modern ones, from holy to profane, both funny and dramatic with the intervention of Nora Orlandi’s vocalisms and her notorious choir.

I-DUE-EVASI-SING-SING.jpg

Quartet Records, in collaboration with Sonor Music Editions, presents the premiere CD release of a forgotten score by Ennio Morricone for Lucio Fulci’s caper comedy.

A gangster noir parody, the film finds the famous comedy duo of Franco and Ciccio at the mercy of mobsters, coming up with insane schemes to survive a fixed boxing match and, as the title suggests, escape from Sing Sing.

Composed in 1964, the same year of A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS, Morricone’s fun jazz noir parody score was previously released on a hard-to-find library LP with generic titles and no connection to the film. This CD contains virtually all the original music written by Morricone for the film (the only missing material consists of cues adapted from national anthems and military marches), including a prison ballad sung by Maurizio Graff.

Produced by Claudio Fuiano and Dániel Winkler and mastered by Chris Malone, the CD includes an 8-page booklet with notes by Gergely Hubai that discuss the score and provide a breakdown of how the music was utilized in the film.

THE-MAN-IN-THE-HAT.jpg

Quartet Records, in collaboration with MovieScore Media, teams up with Oscar winner Stephen Warbeck (SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE, QUILLS, TWO BROTHERS) on the most unusual project of his career – Warbeck not only scored THE MAN IN THE HAT, but was also the co-writer and co-director together with John Paul Davidson.

Starring Ciarán Hinds in the titular role, the film follows our hero as he journeys through France in a Fiat 500 accompanied by a framed photograph of an unknown woman and being pursued by five angry men in a Citroën Dyane. The journey centers around the music; there is almost no dialogue, so the score is afforded much greater prominence and virtually forms an additional character in the narrative. Ciarán Hinds leads the cast with a very soulful performance. Through the score, we explore his happiness or melancholy and tune in to when he feels threatened or liberated.

The soundtrack also includes live filmed performances by Mark Padmore and the Nadine Lee Band, which were recorded on location during principal photography; the characters’ response to the music was real and spontaneous. This limited CD edition features liner notes by Gergely Hubai based on a new interview with the composer.

PATRIA.jpg

Quartet Records and HBO present the newest score by Fernando Velázquez (THE IMPOSSIBLE, A MONSTER CALLS, CRIMSON PEAK) for the TV series created by Aitor Gabilondo and based on the bestseller of Fernando Aramburu. Set in Spanish Basque Country and taking place over thirty years during the separatist terrorism of ETA, PATRIA tells a story through the eyes of two families divided by the violent conflict.

Composing the deeply moving score for this TV series was a challenge for the composer. His music provides a dignified voice for the victims, colored by a sort of Impressionistic darkness, with delicate orchestration, electronic textures, and a flowing leitmotif that unfolds slowly throughout the entire score. The Basque National Orchestra performs under the baton of the composer, and the music was recorded and mixed by Marc Blanes.
