Ok, den einen oder anderen Song von Pitbull mag ich, aber ich kann ihn mir nicht so wirklich als Filmmusikkomponist vorstellen. Jedoch ich bin mal gespannt, was für eine Art Musik er dann für den John Travolta-Film schreiben wird.

Lately, we’ve been following the happenings with the upcoming film “Gotti.” The film that many people forgot was even a thing has burst back into the public consciousness thanks to a late announcement that it would premiere at Cannes and a well-timed new trailer. Now, we have another bit of news that we can’t pass up sharing with our readers because it sounds just too weird to be true.

Pitbull is composing the score for “Gotti.”

You read that right. Miami rapper Pitbull, aka Mr. Worldwide, aka Mr. 305, is writing the music for the upcoming biopic about the infamous crime boss, starring John Travolta. If you told us that Pitbull would be writing the music for a film directed by E from “Entourage” (aka Kevin Connolly), after laughing uncontrollably, we would have thought that was a match made in Heaven. However, if you said that the collab would actually be for an “Official Cannes Selection” about John Gotti starring John Travolta, we would have wondered if it was the End Times.

As far as we know, even though the news might tell you otherwise, we aren’t approaching the end of humanity. Nevertheless, the artist behind “Don’t Stop the Party,” “Timber,” and “Fireball” is now joining the ranks of John Williams, Hans Zimmer, and Ennio Morricone as legit film composers.

“Music has played an integral part in the success of some of my biggest films, and Armando is one of the most electric talents in the music industry today,” Travolta said in a statement (via THR). “Everything about him — his style, creativity and culture — make his scoring of Gotti the perfect marriage of the artist and the material.”In addition to the film’s score, Pitbull will also write and perform an original song for the film.

Oddly enough, this isn’t the first rapper-turned-composer for a crime flick about an infamous mob boss that has been announced in the last month. Earlier, we learned that “Fonzo,” the upcoming Al Capone film by Josh Trank, starring Tom Hardy, would have its music composed by El-P, of Run the Jewels fame.
