La-La Land Records, Paramount Pictures and Geffen proudly present a remastered and expanded, two-disc 20th Anniversary release of renowned composer Hans Zimmer’s (DUNE, NO TIME TO DIE, THE PIRATES OF THE CARRIBIAN) original motion picture score to the 2002 feature film supernatural thriller THE RING, starring Naomi Watts, and directed by Gore Verbinski.
This hit genre film united filmmaker Gore Verbinski with maestro Hans Zimmer, kicking off a powerhouse creative collaboration that has since become legendary. Zimmer’s score is a masterpiece of atmosphere – haunting, dreadful, beautiful, poignant, tense – it effectively envelops the film and the listener in an unforgettable sonic dreamstate. Produced by Dan Goldwasser and mastered by Doug Schwartz, this remastered and expanded CD release features the score presentation on Disc One and amazing additional music bonus tracks on Disc Two. The exclusive liner notes by film music journalist Kaya Savas feature a brand new interview with the film’s composer and director, and the sharp art direction is by Goldwasser. This is a limited edition release of 3000 Units.

Auch wenn sich Zimmer hier deutlich bei Danny Elfman bedient (Sleepy Hollow und Dolores Claiborne als Temp-Scores?), bleibt die Musik faszinierend düster und einprägsam. Ich erinnere mich an die Zeit, als alle Welt dem Promo (oder doch ein Bxxxxxx) hinterherjagte und man auf eine offizielle Ankündigung wartete. Nun hat Lalaland tatsächlich den kompletten Score veröffentlicht und niemanden scheint es zu interessieren. Schade! Für mich bleiben diese Musik und Interstellar die herausragenden Werke Zimmers.

Ich mag den Score auch sehr gerne. Schön atmosphärisch düster. Wobei mir hier das normale Album ausreicht,

Ja, alles Wesentliche ist auf der alten CD enthalten. Aber dennoch entwickelt die neue Fassung einen ganz eigenen Sog und viele kleine Momente lassen es rund klingen. Ich empfehle die LaLaLand-CD.
