For instance in Shrek, I wrote the main "Fairy Tale" theme, but my favorite cue in the movie is "Ride of the Dragon "- John's cue, using my theme. And similarly the opening titles of Chicken Run, which I thought were brilliantly done - not my cue. My theme, but John wrestled with that cue for months. And it happens the other way around as well.

Ich finde Crash (Regie: David Cronenberg, und auch auf dem Hamburger Filmfest Ende September '96 rief der Film starke Kontroversen hervor) nicht mutig, sondern pornographisch.

Eine etwas andere Meinung.

Aber wer weiß, vielleicht war Jarre einfach nur eingeschnappt, weil der von ihm vertonte Film nicht ausgezeichnet wurde.

Hier ein sehr schönes Zitat, oder besser, eine Anekdote von Ernst Korngold, Sohn des berühmten Erich Wolfgang, über ein Gespräch zwischen seinem Vater und Max Steiner:

Ich habe gestern nochmal in den Film Music Notebooks von Elmer Bernstein geblättert. In der zweiten Ausgabe nimmt er sich William Friedkin aufs Korn ("The Annotated Friedkin"), der sich in einem Interview dazu äußert, warum er Lalo Schifrins Musik zu The Exorcist rausgeworfen hat. Friedkins Aussagen sind schon ein starkes Stück, Elmer Bernsteins Kommentare dazu noch mehr. Und der "Hammer" ist der letzte Satz, in dem Bernstein einen doch ziemlich unrühmlichen Vergleich von Friedkin zu einer anderen Person der Weltgeschichte macht:

Now that the jokes are over I feel compelled to observe, grimly, that Mr. Friedkin's methods of attempting to bring an entire honorable profession into disrepute are not original. The use of the big, ignorant lie, ambiguous innuendo and studied ignorance were common to a fourth decade German painter who had some years of commercial success with his own brand of sensationalism.
