Pictures and Warner Home Video, creaks open the doors for the highly anticipated sequel Return to House on Haunted Hill, produced by Joel Silvers genre banner, Dark Castle Entertainment. A roller-coaster ride of terror, the film exhumes the evil spirit of Dr. Vannacutt and his diabolical nurses and orderlies. Unimaginable horrors are unleashed on a whole new group of unsuspecting victims on October 16, 2007, just in time for Halloween. Made for those who think they can handle a slaughterhouse of blood, gore and terror, the film will be released in R-Rated, Unrated and HD/BD Unrated Disc versions. Return to House on Haunted Hill is a thrilling, edge-of-the seat ride that will allow fans to unleash their imaginations in the same vein as the original Vincent Price film, appealing to true die-hard horror fans.

Return to House on Haunted Hill is a sequel to the theatrical hit House on Haunted Hill, a remake of the Vincent Price horror classic from 1959. House on Haunted Hill (1999) starred Geoffrey Rush, Famke Janssen, Taye Diggs, Peter Gallagher, Chris Kattan, Ali Larter and Bridgette Wilson. The story revolved around a millionaire who offers a group of diverse people $1,000,000 to spend the night in a haunted house with a horrifying past.

Sarah Wolfe was the only living survivor from the massacre at the Vannacutt Mansion, but no one believed her claims that ghosts were responsible for the gruesome murders that took place there. Now her recent and questionable suicide leaves her sister, Ariel, no choice but to devote herself to finding out who or what was responsible for her death. Ariel discovers that Sarah sent her the diary of the sadistic Dr. Vannacutt just before she died, offering clues to the diabolical evil that resides within the house. But the diary also makes Ariel a target in a deadly treasure hunt that leads a group of unwitting victims back to the Vannacutt Mansion, reawakening the terror imprisoned within the house on the hill.

This time, the house and the evil spirits inside are out to make sure that no one leaves alive.

The terrifying score for Return to House on Haunted Hill was composed by newcomer Frederik Wiedmann.

In the Valley of Elah tells the story of a war veteran (Tommy Lee Jones), his wife (Susan Sarandon) and the search for their son, a soldier who recently returned from Iraq but has mysteriously gone missing, and the police detective (Charlize Theron) who helps in the investigation.

Paul Haggis directs from his original screenplay based on a story by Mark Boal and Haggis. This will be Haggis' directing follow-up to the Academy Award-winning Crash. In addition to the Oscar-winning screenplay for Crash, his recent writing credits include the award-winning Million Dollar Baby, for which he received an Academy Award-nomination for Best Screenplay, and current releases The Last Kiss, Flags Of Our Fathers, Casino Royale and Letters From Iwo Jima.

Also returning from Crash is composer Mark Isham, who here delivers a thoughtful, probing, emotionally impactful score, which artfully captures the drama of this powerful story.

Warner Independent Pictures opens In The Valley Of Elah nationwide on September 21.

A millionaire detective novelist (Michael Caine) matches wits with the unemployed actor (Jude Law) who ran off with his wife in a deadly serious, seriously twisted game with dangerous consequences.

The Anthony Shaffer play originally brought to the screen in 1972 gets the remake treatment in this updating that finds Caine stepping into the role of the brilliant thriller writer portrayed by Laurence Olivier in the original, and Law following in Caines footsteps as the young hairdresser who steals the literary giants wife, only to find himself subsequently swallowed up in an elaborate revenge scheme. Kenneth Branagh directs a script adapted from Shaffers original play by screenwriter Harold Pinter.

For his latest film, Branagh reunited with his longtime composer Patrick Doyle, who contributed another classic to their shared filmography.

Sony Pictures Classics opens SLEUTH nationwide on October 12.

As five women and one enigmatic man meet to discuss the works of Jane Austen, they find their love lives playing out in a 21st century version of her novels. Jocelyn (Maria Bello), her unmarried best friend, distracts herself from her unacknowledged loneliness by breeding dogs. Prudie (Emily Blunt) is a young French teacher, in possession of a worthy husband yet distracted by persistent fantasies about sex with another man. The many times married Bernadette (Kathy Baker) develops a yearning for one more chance at happiness. Beautiful, risk-taking Allegra (Maggie Grace), Sylvia and Daniels lesbian daughter, has quit talking to her lover. And Grigg (Hugh Dancy), a young science fiction fan and computer whiz, seems horribly both out of place and obliviously ill at ease as the only man to be invited into the book circle.

Composer Aaron Zigman (The Notebook) is again called upon to provide a beautiful, romantic and heart-tugging score.

Ich finde das ein interessantes Projekt und bin gespannt was der Mann kann.Er hat viel mit Frizzell co-komponiert und orchestriert,also scheint er ein guter Handwerker zu sein.

Die restlichen Scores sind allesamt interessant,ein neuer Doyle is immer gut.Am meisten freue ich mich jedoch auf den neuen Isham und auch der Zigman is genial.Also summa sumarum 4 geile Releases.

AS YOU LIKE & THE LAST LEGION sind allerdings Scores, die schon 2006 enstanden sind, aber erst jetzt rauskamen.

Auf SLEUTH bin ich sehr gespannt. Ebenfalls auf RETURN TO HOUSE OF HAUNTED HILL; mit Wiedmann quatsche ich die Tage für CM, bin auf den Jungen gespannt.

Was erklärt wie er zu dem Auftrag kam, da ja sonst John Frizzell die Dark Castle Filme vertont. Aber was macht dann Frizzell jetzt? Vieleicht darf er ja mal einen richtigen Film vertonen!

Also das anspruchvollste was Frizzell je gemacht hat war Gods And Generals und da er aus der Horrorecke auf lange Zeit nicht rauskommen wird ändert sich daran nichts. Schon gar nicht nachdem auch The Reaping gefloppt ist und das war Frizzell bester Score seit langer Zeit.

Und was ist mit dem drama The Prize Winner of Defiance Ohio? Das war weit entfernt von seiner horror score routine und dafür hat frizzell dann auch recht gute kritiken kassiert. Schade, dass man ihn nicht öfters an solche filme heranlässt.

The reaping klang für mich streckenweise wie The Omen, nur rückwärts.

Und was ist mit dem drama The Prize Winner of Defiance Ohio?

Ich bezog mich eher auf Filme, die eine etwas größere Aufmerksamkeit erhalten haben. Der von dir genannte Film, dessen Score ich leider nicht kenne lief ja nur Festivals und in vereinzelten Kinos in den USA, so dass bis auf einige Kritiker wohl kaum einer den Score wirklich wahrgenommen hat.

Wenn Silver und Zemeckis nicht diese dämlichen Horrorfilmchen rauskloppen würden hätte der kaum noch etwas zu tun und nachdem die letzten Dark Castle Filme allesamt gefloppt sind frage ich mich, ob überhaupt noch neue Filme geben wird.

Ähnliches dachte ich mir gestern beim Anhören von Serras "Arthur and the Invisible" - geschmeidige 42 Tracks hat der Score

bei Frizzell ist wohl wirklich das Problem, dass er nur Schrottfilme bekommt und so auch selten zeigen kann, was er vielleicht könnte. REAPING war toll...

grad gestern wieder das Making of zur Musik bei ALIEN 4 gesehen und eigentlich toll wieviel Mühe er sich gemacht hat, aber das Endergebnis war dann doch etwas enttäuschend... nur laut und sonst nix, nen paar wilde Sounds... aber das hätt auch besser sein können... andererseits blieb doch einiges von der Musik über die Jahre hängen... so schlecht wars wohl dann auch nicht, aber naja... nach monatelanger Arbeit und Drüber-Nachdenken klingt es nicht.

Anyway... Frizzell hat auf jeden Fall mehr drauf als die meisten MV-Fritzen, aber selbst Silver ließ ihn nie an besseres ran... schade... mittlerweile hat Frizzell sogar schon 2 direct-to-dvd Produktionen hinter sich... wollen wir mal hoffen er landet nicht da wo Cmiral schon ist...
