Neue Zemeckis Produktion

Following the less than thrilling reception of Robert Zemeckis motion-capture production Mars Needs Moms, Sony Pictures Animation has optioned the rights to the book How to Survive a Garden Gnome Attack for Zemeckis to produce. Variety reports that the film will be an R-rated live-action/CG hybrid, with a budget in the range of $20-30 million. The film is based on the humor book of the same name by Chuck Sambuchino that details what to do in the event of an invasion by lawn gnomes.

No director is currently attached to the project, and at this point Zemeckis is only producing. The motion-capture advocate is currently weighing his directorial options after Disney canceled his big-budget motion capture remake of Yellow Submarine in the wake of the Mars Needs Moms fiasco. Zemeckis has been lingering in creepy face motion capture for the past decade, having not made a live-action film since 2000s Cast Away. Personally, Id love to see the Back to the Future director return to live-action work, or at least a CG/live-action hybrid. Maybe the rumored sequel to Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Budget von 20 bis 30 Millionen......"Mars needs Moms" ist aber auch tierisch abgesoffen in den Kinos, die 150 Millionen Produktionskosten holt der in 100 Jahren nicht mehr rein, steht momentan bei einem Einspielergebnis von 20 Millionen (weltweit 36 Millionen) nach über 4 (!) Wochen. Bei der Schwemme an CGI-/Zeichentrick-Filmen musste ja mal einer so richtig auf die Nase fallen.

Disney hat allerdings die hauptschuld zu tragen. Das marketing für den film eines ohnehin schwer zu verkaufenden genres (sci-fi comedy/animation) wurde bereits im vorfeld von experten stark kritisiert. Bei dem projekt hat man sich einfach hoffnungslos verkalkuliert und vieles für selbstverständlich gehalten. Naja, auf jeden fall klingt how to survive a garden gnome attack deutlich kreativer und zemeckis-typischer als dieses komische beattles remake, welches ohnehin total überflüssig war. Und auf den score bin ich schon richtig gespannt. Einen silvestri score zu einer horror/action komödie hats lange nicht mehr gegeben.

Casino Royale hat mir sehr gut gefallen, aber Ein Quantum Trost ist für mich der schlechteste Bond aller Zeiten. Das hat mit Bond nix mehr zu tun, der Bösewicht ist auch sehr blass geblieben.

War mal was anderes ... bin kein großer Bond-Fan, aber habe genug Filme gesehen, um zu sagen, dass ich Stirb an einem anderen Tag unterirdisch fand. Ein Quäntchen Trost war sehr erfrischend.

Realverfilmung von ........

Nils Holgersson

Kürzlich begannen in Südschweden die Dreharbeiten für die Neuverfilmung von Selma Lagerlöfs Jugendbuch-Klassiker Nils Holgersson in einer 240 minütigen Filmfassung. Erstmals wird der Stoff real verfilmt, das heißt, mit eigens dafür ausgebildeten Tieren, aufwendigen Animationen und visuellen Effekten.

Darüber hinaus leihen mit Katja Riemann, Bastian Pastewka, Ben Becker, Yvonne Catterfeld und Ralf Schmitz gleich eine ganze Reihe deutscher Stars der weltberühmten Wildgans Akka von Kebnekajse, dem Gänserich Martin, dem Fuchs Smirre, dem Raben Bataki und allen anderen Tieren ihre Stimmen.

Nils Holgersson" wird voraussichtlich an Weihnachten 2011 als Mehrteiler im Ersten ausgestrahlt.

Musik wäre doch Marcel Barsotti ein schöner Kandidat für die Verfilmung.

Noch eine Meldung. Walter Hill kehrt zurück als Regisseur und übernimmt die Regie für den nächsten Stallone Film, wie es hier im Bericht über "The Expandebles 2" steht. Jedoch wird Hill nicht für den zweiten Teil von "Expandebles, sondern ersetzt Wayne Karmer (The Cooler) bei dem parraell vorbereiteten Film "Headshot"

Wackelig sind die Regiestühle an den Sets von Sylvester Stallone. Schien es vor wenigen Wochen noch als abgemacht, hat der Regisseur und Schauspieler nun offiziell erklärt, dass er bei "The Expendables 2" doch nicht Regie führen wird.

Zweifel an der Fortsetzung seiner Regiearbeit kamen das erste Mal im März auf, als es hieß, Sylvester Stallone werde weder Regie führen noch das Drehbuch zu "Expendables 2" schreiben. Lionsgate dementierte jedoch die Gerüchte und versicherte, dass der Action-Altstar auch im Sequel als Regisseur und Schauspieler aktiv sein werde. Jetzt hat der 64-Jährige Deadline wissen lassen, dass er den Regieposten doch nicht einnehmen wird. Momentan ist Stallone damit beschäftigt, eine Liste mit in Frage kommenden Regisseuren aufzusetzen. Bei dem parallel in Vorbereitung stehenden Projekt "Headshot" hatte sich Stallone nach kreativen Differenzen zuletzt von Wayne Kramer verabschiedet und für Regie-Haudegen Walter Hill entschieden. Für die Fortsetzung will sich Stallone dieselbe Rezeptur zurechtlegen, die beim ersten Versuch weltweit 274,5 Millionen Dollar einspielte.

Hmm Walter Hill... da wäre ja James Horner ein Kandidat, ja träumen darf man gg aber so einen echten Actionfilm hat Horner lange nicht mehr vertont.

Neue Möglichkeiten für Robert Zemeckis und sein Comeback als Live Action Regisseur.

After a decade devoted to motion capture, Robert Zemeckis is looking to return to live action for his next film. Disneys cancellation of the mo-cap Beatles ode Yellow Submarine surely was a wake up call. Zemeckis needs time, though, to ease back into the land of the living. The director flirted with Superman and a Wizard of Oz remake, and the time travel tale Timeless remains a possibility. And Zemeckis could always revive the Who Framed Roger Rabbit sequel that exists in a constant state of development.

Paramount has added another option, Flight, and it sounds damn promising. The script by John Gatins (Coach Carter) centers on an alcoholic/drug addict pilot. And Denzel Washington is loosely attached to star. Details after the break.

THR provides a brief outline:

When his planes engine malfunctions, the pilot manages to rescue the aircraft and its passengers, becoming a hero in the process. When the FAA investigates and finds evidence of drug abuse, it tries to sweep it to the side to help preserve the image of the captain, who is trying to change the course of his life.

I am hooked when Washington uses his righteous voice to voice a deeply flawed character. Alcoholic pilot hero sounds perfect.

Zemeckis is in early negotiations to direct Flight, and wont necessarily be his next feature. But with Flight and Timeless, its nice to know that the man who brought us Back to the Future has multiple quality

Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald (Dinner for Schmucks) will produce Flight. Washington will next appear opposite Ryan Reynolds in Safe House, scheduled for release February 10, 2012.

Aber eigentlich auch keine überraschung. Der gartenzwerg-film wäre höchstens was für geeks und horror fans gewesen. Timeless und Flight klingen eher nach etwas, was mehr zielgruppen anspricht und auch awardpotential hat.

Ich könnte allen projekten was positives abgewinnen.

Ah ja. Na dann geht die rechnung auf. Hoffentlich lässt er sich nicht zu lange zeit! Der große vorteil bei seiner realfilm rückkehr ist ja, dass er nicht mehr 3 jahre für einen film braucht. Ein zemeckis film pro jahr wäre mal wieder was feines.

Ich verstehe ja z.b. nicht, warum er trotz aller liebe zum performance capture parallel keine realfilme gemacht hat. Das hätte auch vielen kritikern den wind aus den segeln nehmen können, von wegen er solle zum realfilm zurückkehren. Spielberg schafft es schließlich auch, tintin und warhorse parallel umzusetzen. Anscheinend wird zemeckis jetzt bei performance capture lastigen projekten eher produzieren.

Ja das stimmt und wenn er es nicht verlernt hat, was ich nicht glaube, kann man sich mindestens einmal im Jahr auf einen mindestens guten Film freuen. Bisher fand ich alle Realfilme von ihm klasse,

aber muss zugeben, dass mir auch seine Motion Capture Filme gefielen

(einzig Beowulf bekam da einen Minuspunkt, weil ich da jedesmal dachte, das wäre in Real besser gewesen , aber von der Story und wie der gedreht wurde, war er top)

Here’s some rather nice new images for TV movie, Neverland and we like what we see. Yes, it does appear that Bob Hoskins has completely gone back to his Hook days but we love it! News recently broke that Keira Knightley would join the production to voice Tinkerbell joining the likes of Rhys Ifans, Anna Friel, Bob Hoskins, Charles Dance and Charlie Rowe for the two part TV movie.

The ship, called the Galeone Neptune, was originally constructed for Roman Polanski’s 1986 film Pirates and is permanently docked in Genoa, Italy, where these scenes were shot.

Hier ein, ähm Bild vom neuen Film "The Tree of Life" von Terrence Malick.....

The interactive website for Terrence Malick's much-anticipated The Tree of Life has turned up (thanks to The Playlist) a better glimpse at the dinosaur featured on the film's one-sheet. What's more, the image is now large enough to reveal a second, smaller dinosaur in the foreground. Check it out in the image below!

Written and directed by Malick, the film, hitting theaters on May 27th, stars Brad Pitt, Sean Penn and Jessica Chastain and tells the impressionistic story of a Midwestern family in the 1950's. The film follows the life journey of the eldest son, Jack, through the innocence of childhood to his disillusioned adult years as he tries to reconcile a complicated relationship with his father (Pitt). Jack (played as an adult by Penn) finds himself a lost soul in the modern world, seeking answers to the origins and meaning of life while questioning the existence of faith. Through Malick's signature imagery, we see how both brute nature and spiritual grace shape not only our lives as individuals and families, but all life.

Jeremy Renner ist der neue Bourne, bzw. tritt er in die Fußstapfen von Matt Damon:

After a long search, Universal Pictures and director Tony Gilroy have found their lead for The Bourne Legacy, which is meant to spinoff from the franchise that introduced Matt Damon's Jason Bourne character, and it is... Jeremy Renner.

The star of Kathryn Bigelow's Oscar-winning The Hurt Locker, who was also nominated for Ben Affleck's The Town, co-stars with Tom Cruise in the upcoming Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol and is playing Hawkeye in Joss Whedon's The Avengers, is expected to sign on as a new undisclosed government operative who has come out of a program even more dangerous than the one that spawned Jason Bourne in the new film that begins production in September.

Deadline mentions that the studio tested many other actors including Joel Edgerton from the upcoming The Thing prequel, Dominic Cooper, Garrett Hedlund from TRON: Legacy, Luke Evans, and even Renner's Hurt Locker co-star Anthony Mackie.

Latino Review first broke the news that an offer was going out to Renner earlier this month.

Hier eine Comicverfilmung, auf die ich mich sehr freue, warum, ganz einfach, ich halte sehr viel von Joss Whedon

Well folks, todays the day. Director Joss Whedon has announced that today is the first day of filming for the be-all end-all comic book movie: The Avengers. Its been a long road for Marvel, beginning in earnest with 2008s Iron Man. Now, Thor, Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Hulk, and Iron Man himself will assemble under Joss Whedons guiding hand. The director announced the beginning of production with a very Whedonesque message.

Im pretty sure its about the Justice League [Marvel Lawyers re-enter, unspeakability occurs] or possibly something else. Ill get it. Ive been looking forward to this. For about 46 years.

Bringing together basically anyone whos ever been in a Marvel movie, The Avengers stars Robert Downey Jr, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner, and Colbie Smulders.. Scripted by Zak Penn (X2) and Whedon himself, not much is known about the plot of the film at this time. We do know that Hulk will be featured using motion capture, Iron Mans armor will be new, and much of the filming will take place in New Mexico. Additionally, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige recently stated his desire to create spinoff films of supporting characters Hawkeye, Black Widow and Nick Fury following The Avengers.

While we know next-to-nothing about the plot, there have been a few rumblings about the villain(s) of the film. Back in December, an Albuquerque newspaper printed that the film will revolve around the team fighting two alien races: the Skrulls and the Kree. This notion isnt exactly confirmed, but talk of the Skrulls/Kree has been around for about a year now.

The Skrulls are an extraterrestrial humanoid race of shapeshifters and will presumably be very scary. The Kree, on the other hand, are an advanced militaristic alien race. Whether these two races turn out to be the villains or not, I think we can all safely say that the film is in great hands with Whedon at the helm. The Avengers will be released in 3D on May 4th, 2012.

Piranha 3DD Reveals Cast

Dimension Films has officially unveiled the cast of its upcoming horror sequel, Piranha 3DD, which begins production today in Wilmington, NC.

Arriving from Feast director John Gulager, Piranha 3DD will include Danielle Panabaker, Matt Bush, Chris Zylka, David Koechner, Meagan Tandy, Paul James Jordan, Jean-Luc Bilodeau, Hector Jimenez, Adrian Martinez and Clu Gulager with more to be announced soon.

The official plot description for the sequel is as follows:

There’s something in the water . . . again. And this time no one is safe from the flesh eating fish as they sink their razor sharp teeth into the visitors of the best summer attraction, The Big Wet Water Park.

Piranha 3DD is scheduled to hit theaters on November 23, 2011.
