Und die nächste 80er Serie wird nun fürs Kino aufbereitet

Sony Pictures Animation möchte die achteiligen Fernsehserie "Ein Fall für Professor Chase" aus den 80er Jahren für einen Kinofilm adaptieren. Unter dem Originaltitel "Manimal" ist der Film als eine Mischung aus Computeranimation und Real-Film geplant, berichtet The Hollywood Reporter. Eine Besetzung ist bisher noch nicht bekannt, die Suche nach einem Drehbuchautor hat bereits begonnen.

In der US-Fantasyserie von Glen A. Larson und Donald Boyle spielt Simon MacCorkindale ("Der weiße Hai 3", Serie "Falcon Crest") den Universitätsprofessor und Kriminologen Jonathan Chase, der sich in ein beliebiges Tier transformieren kann. Mit dieser Fahigkeit unterstützt er die Polizistin Brooke McKenzie (Melody Anderson) bei der Verbrechensbekämpfung in der Stadt New York. Die Serie wurde in Deutschland erstmals im Herbst 1990 auf dem Sender Sat.1 ausgestrahlt und später auf Kabel 1 und Kabel 1 classics wiederholt.

Seymour Hoffman macht auch mal wieder einen Film:

Philip Seymour Hoffman has plans to direct Keith Bunin's original screenplay, Ezekiel Moss, Variety reports. The project landed near the top of 2011's "Black List" of unproduced screenplays with the following official logline:

A mysterious stranger who possibly has the power to channel the souls of the dead changes the lives of everyone in a small Nebraska town, especially a young widow and her 11-year-old son.

The trade notes that the project, set in the 1930's, is set up at Mandalay Pictures with Stefanie Azpiazu, Anthony Bregman and Cathy Shulman, Adam Stone and Emily Ziff producing.

Hoffman, whose sole directing credit so far is 2010's Jack Goes Boating, headlines Paul Thomas Anderson'sThe Master, currently in theaters. He will also soon take on the role of Plutarch Heavensbee in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

Avatar Sequels mal wieder:

James Cameron is in pre-production on "The Avatar" sequels that are expected to start shooting in 2013 and has talked to The Hollywood Reporter about how the project might become a Chinese co-production.

"Within five years, China could easily be as big a gross-revenue market for film as North America, and there are very specific economic incentives for having both Chinese content and Chinese co-production. We are already funded on Avatar 2 and 3, but if we qualify as a co-production, there might be some incentives in the percentage of revenue we can take out of China. We are running the numbers to see if that makes sense," he said.

Cameron added: "For Avatar, we can certainly use Chinese actors as performance capture actors because any accent issues will hide within the Na'vi accent. So we can have Chinese Na'vi; [and in the live-action sequences] we can also have Chinese actors who speak English in the film. We are projecting a future in Avatar, and if you project that future out, it is logical that there would be a number of Chinese amongst the contingent on Pandora."

The trade said that the filmmaker will still shoot the performance capture for Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 in Los Angeles and the live-action photography in Wellington, New Zealand. The visual effects work will take place at the Wellington-based Weta Digital.

Solange keine konservierte Version von Mohammed gefunden wird, der in der Folge Kate Beckinsale flachlegt und Whiskey säuft, sehe ich da keine Gefahr.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 may have finished the film series, but it seems JK Rowling isn't done with the written version of the Harry Potter franchise.

In a recent BBC interview, Rowling revealed that she's tempted to return to at least two books in the series.

"I had to write on the run and there were times when it was really tough," she said, explaining that she felt that "one early one and one late one," had been rushed.

"And I read them, and I think 'Oh God, maybe I'll go back and do a director's cut', I don't know."

Rowling also said that she would return to writing Harry Potter if she had "a fabulous idea."

So maybe The Deathly Hallows Part 2 won't be the final Potter film after all...

Wäre natürlich amüsant, wenn der erste HOBBIT böse floppt und die Warner dann noch zwei teure Flops rausbringen muss.

Klaro. Warum sollte so eine schon jetzt Oscar-prämierte Film-Trilogie auch weit hinter den kommerziellen Erwartungen zurückbleiben?

Matt Reeves scheint nun der aussichtsreichste Kandidat für Rise of the Apes 2 zu sein:

It was only last week that we were reporting the possibility of Rupert Wyatt departing from simian sequel Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, but it seems that FOX are already in the market for a replacement.

Wyatt was reportedly uncomfortable with the incredibly tight schedule demanded by the studio in order to ensure the film hits its scheduled release date of 23 May 2014. Clearly he felt unable to do himself justice against the clock…

As we had previously speculated, Fox would need to move quickly to draft a replacement in time, and it seems that Cloverfield’s Matt Reeves has swiftly positioned himself at the top of their most-wanted list.

The likes of Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, Scott Cooper and even Guillermo del Toro are also thought to be on the shortlist, although Reeves is currently the studio’s number one pick.

A script has been completed by writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, and Fox execs are thought to be ready to move on it as soon as possible. With that in mind, expect an official directorial appointment very soon…
