Writer/director Rodrigo García (Nine Lives) teams with executive producer Alejandro González Iñárritu to craft MOTHER AND CHILD, a drama highlighting the powerful bond between a mother and her son. It's been years since Karen (Annette Bening) gave her daughter, Elizabeth, up for adoption, and the decision to abandon her child has always haunted her. Upon meeting laid-back Paco (Jimmy Smits), Karen permits her anxiety and mistrust to get the best of her. On the surface it appears that Elizabeth (Naomi Watts) is none the worse for never knowing her biological mother; she's a fast-talking lawyer who's just landed a high-profile job at a firm fronted by Paul (Samuel L. Jackson), though her unsavory penchant for exploiting others is about to blow up in her face.

Composer Edward Shearmur, known for his scores for Reign Of Fire, Charlies Angels and Miss Congeniality, proves equally adept at providing a sympathetic and touching musical palette for MOTHER AND CHILD.

MOTHER AND CHILD made its US premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, and Sony Pictures Classics will start its theatrical rollout May 7.

Robin Hood chronicles the life of an expert archer, previously interested only in self-preservation, from his service in King Richards army against the French. Upon Richards death, Robin travels to Nottingham, a town suffering from the corruption of a despotic sheriff and crippling taxation, where he falls for the spirited widow Lady Marion (Oscar® winner Cate Blanchett), a woman skeptical of the identity and motivations of this crusader from the forest. Hoping to earn the hand of Maid Marion and salvage the village, Robin assembles a gang whose lethal mercenary skills are matched only by its appetite for life. Together, they begin preying on the indulgent upper class to correct injustices under the sheriff.

With their country weakened from decades of war, embattled from the ineffective rule of the new king and vulnerable to insurgencies from within and threats from afar, Robin and his men heed a call to ever greater adventure. This unlikeliest of heroes and his allies set off to protect their country from slipping into bloody civil war and return glory to England once more.

Director Ridley Scott, whose Gladiator brought a contemporary spin to the world of ancient Rome, takes a similar turn with the Robin Hood legend, with a striking new score by Marc Streitenfeld, who also collaborated on the directors Body Of Lies and American Gangster.

Kicking off the Summer blockbuster season, Universal Pictures will open ROBIN HOOD on over 3500 screens on May 14.

bitte postet alle Infos und Kommentare zu ROBIN HOOD in diesem Thread, damit wir nicht an zwei "Fronten" kämpfen.

Klingt gut aber Shearmur ist mittlerweile auch nur noch ein Chameleon wie Debney,das gehörte klingt sehr stark nach T.Newman.

Wie dem auch sei schön mal wieder sowas zu hören.

Jo das bringts auf den Punkt, dem fällt auch nichts anderes mehr ein. Könnte ja eine kleine Entschädigung sein für die Filme wo Newman von Bord ging.

MOTHER AND CHILD ist (erwartungsgemäß) ein sehr ruhiger, zart dahoinfließender, beinahe meditativer, emotionaler Score, der starke Anleihen bei Thomas Newmans "Klaviergeklimper" (wie es Bernd immer so schön formuliert ) nimmt.

Wenn du z.B. Newmans WHITE OLEANDER kennst, hast du schon ungefähr eine Vorstellung, in welche Richtung die Musik geht (ich möchte nicht sagen, dass Shearmur abkupfert, aber bei einigen Tracks hat er sich schon stark von genanntem Newman-Werk inspirieren lassen, "Elizabeth Alone" etwa): Sphärisches Klavier, Gitarre, Oboe und Cello, das sind die tragenden Instrumente des Scores. Ein zentrales, tragendes Thema sucht man vergebens.

Alles in allem beurteile ich die Musik als sehr Newman-esk.
