One title comes from the early 80s -- a comedy score by a composer famous for his comedy scores in that time period, so it fills a gap. The other is from late 80s. It's an expanded reissue of a horror score, but more important than the expansion is the brand new mix. The first issue used a somewhat compromised mix (details later), and this new mix reveals details that were simply not there the first time around.

For a start the score has a curious tonality about it and a rather dull recording. This might be to do with the orchestration and what Goldsmith assembled, though you're never quite sure whether the recording venue is to blame.

Um festzustellen, dass Warlock auf CD (Intrada/Silva) klangliche Defizite hat, muss ich kein Review von GoldsmithOnline lesen. Das habe ich schon vor 25+ Jahre erschreckt festgestellt. Das ganze Album klingt dumpf. Über 15 kHz gibt es nicht viel. War damals Niveau von Compact-Cassetten, heute schlechter als MP3. Ein klangliches Upgrade würde sich auf jeden Fall lohnen. Ich mag den Score. Andere hier im Board allerdings gar nicht.

  Gibt es von Patrick Doyle's ENCHANTED KINGDOM 3D (zu deutsch grad im Kino unter AFRIKA DAS MAGISCHE KÖNIGREICH 3D) von irgendeinem Label eine Score-Veröffentlichung bzw. ist eine geplant?

It's from the 1950s, which was thirty years prior to the 1980s.

another Bernard Herrmann title maybe?

I'm looking forward to getting hold of The Snows of Kilimanjaro and White Witch Doctor.

Composer John Debney is the ultimate film music character actor. In equal demand for family films like ELF as he is for adventure films like IRON MAN 2, the Oscar-nominated composer also scored the poignantly brutal THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST. Debney is an agile, jack-of-all-genres, composing for comedies (BRUCE ALMIGHTY), sci-fi action (PREDATORS), horror (DREAM HOUSE) and romance (VALENTINE’S DAY) with the same confidence and panache. Since then he has won three more Emmys (SEA QUEST DSV), and been nominated for a total of six (most recently in 2012 for his work on the Kevin Costner western miniseries HATFIELDS & MCCOYS.) His foray into videogame scoring—2007’s LAIR—resulted in a BAFTA nomination and a Best Videogame Score award from The International Film Music Critics Association. In 2005 Debney was the youngest recipient of ASCAP’s Henry Mancini Career Achievement Award.

Wozu eine Expandierung von 3:10 TO YUMA? Auf der regulären CD ist doch nahezu alles enthalten.

 

Von Vorteil wäre aber die Verpackung im Jewel Case - die schrottige Recycling-Pappe der Lionsgate-CD hat mich schon immer genervt.

ich hab meine vor kurzem für 28 Euro bekommen. Die Expandierung zusammen mit der Veröffentlichung des George Duning Scores wäre fein gewesen.
