noch sind es einige Stunden bis zur offiziellen Bekanntgabe der Oscarnominierungen, doch einzelne Entscheidungen scheinen bereits durchgesickert. Von costa communication kam vor wenigen Minuten diese Info:

More wins than any living person and ties Randy Newman for noms

(HOLLYWOOD, CA) Alan Menken receives 19th Oscar nomination for the song I See the Light, (Music by Alan Menken; Lyrics by Glenn Slater) for Disneys 50th animated feature, Tangled, sung by Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi. Tangled is the updated Rapunzel fairy tale. For this romantic ballad, the characters are on a dingy in the harbor watching lanterns launched into the night sky, as Rapunzels dreams of love and freedom come true. Menken provides both songs and score to the film. To date, Menken has earned 8 Oscars and 19 nominations. In November, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He is currently working on the stage adaptation of Sister Act: The Musical, opening on Broadway in April.

An Oscar win will mark Menkens first in 15 years when he won Best Original Score and Best Song for Pocahontass Colors of the Wind. (Music by Alan Menken; Lyrics by Stephen Schwartz). Three years ago, Menken received three nominations for Enchanteds Thats How You Know, Happy Working Song and So Close, with lyrics by Stephen Schwartz. In November of that same year he received an induction into the prestigious Songwriters Hall of Fame.

For Tangled, Menken turned to Glenn Slater, his collaborator on the theatrical productions of The Little Mermaid, Leap of Faith, and Sister Act, and Disneys Home on the Range. Menken and Slater received Tony noms for The Little Mermaid. Tangleds I See the Light is Slaters first Academy Award nomination.

After graduating from New York University, Alan Menken met Howard Ashman and began collaborating on several productions for the WPA Theater, ultimately achieving widespread acclaim with Little Shop of Horrors. The musical was later turned into a film, which earned Menken his first Academy Award nomination.The success of Little Shop of Horrors led Menken to Walt Disney Studios, for whom he has shared great accomplishments. His first two Oscars, for best original score and best song ("Under the Sea", featuring lyrics by Ashman) would come three years later, for his work on Disney's The Little Mermaid. The film was adapted to Broadway in 2007. Beauty and the Beast also featured music by Menken and lyrics by Ashman and earned Menken two more Academy Awards.

Receives Oscar Nomination for Best Score:

The Kings Speech

(Hollywood, CA) Alexandre Desplat receives his fourth Best Original Score Oscar nomination for The Kings Speech. His score for the King George VI biopic recently received BAFTA and Golden Globe nominations. The composer incorporated the actual microphones of King George VI into his score, and recorded with a 90-piece orchestra at Londons Abbey Road Studio. Desplat was nominated for the same category last year, for The Fantastic Mr. Fox. His current projects include Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II and The Tree of Life, starring Brad Pitt.

After composing the music for over 50 European films, Desplat burst onto the Hollywood scene in 2003 with his evocative score to The Girl with a Pearl Earring, which earned him nominations from the Golden Globes, BAFTA and European Film Awards. Desplat has won the World Soundtrack Award five times out of six nominations for Best Original Score and Film Composer of the Year. He won a Grammy in 2008 for the Best Score Soundtrack of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Alexandre Desplat was also selected as one of the nine luminaries to serve as a juror for the 63rd Cannes Film Festival.

Ich denke bei Kings Speech waren so viele Beethoven Adaptionen dabei?Ist das nicht ein Grund nicht nominiert zu werden,deshalb soll doch angeblich True Grit nicht zugelassen werden oder?

Jetz muss ich als Ghostwriter Supporter wohl auf eine Doppel Nomi hoffen. The King's Speech hat als additional Music Beethoven, Mozart und Bach, ist aber bei weitem nicht so gut wie der Ghostwriter.

Hat mal einer den Stream auf Oscars.com ausprobiert ? Da braucht man echt lange um durchzukommen.
